My name is Carlos Madeira. I have now
lived long periods in different cities of three continents – 23 years in Lisbon,
Portugal, 6 years in Evanston, Illinois, and 7 years in Santiago, Chile. All of
these cities and the people living there are equally dear to me. This is my profile as an
economic researcher, which is dedicated to the finances and earnings of ordinary
households.
I am particularly interested in ancient civilizations and poetry, from
Homer, Sappho and Ovid to Camoens, Anna Akhmatova, Pessoa, Rilke and Cavafy.
This is me during my first celebration of the Chilean
National Day, September 18th of 2009.
